Dan Henk moved to New York City on the recommendation of his art teacher, intent on becoming a comic book artist. While struggling to pay the bills through illustration work, a friend of his brother’s—Chad Divel of Visual Addiction—saw Dan’s artwork and suggested he learn tattooing. Chad offered to teach him, and what began as a practical solution quickly became a passion far deeper than Dan ever imagined. From there, the path forward became clear.
Drawing heavily from his art school background, Dan brought a multidisciplinary approach into tattooing. He strives to achieve the realism and soft blends he developed through oil painting, while maintaining the clarity, readability, and dynamic flow found in the best comic book art. His work exists at the intersection of fine art and tattooing, blending influences from artists like John Harris and Frank Frazetta with inspiration from tattooers such as Tommy Lee Wedtner, Steve Moore, and Robby Latos.
Beyond tattooing, Dan is a prolific and versatile creative. He writes books, hosts a podcast, illustrates book and magazine covers, creates comic book work, paints album covers, and continues to explore new artistic outlets whenever possible. No matter the medium, his work is driven by storytelling, craftsmanship, and a lifelong dedication to visual art.

Dan Henk’s moody collection of 12 different flesh-tone browns, muddy reds, and murky blues are mixed to capture the living dead in full moonlight. This versatile set works extremely well on the living, too. Our Zombie set includes Freshly Dead, one of the best flesh tones ever, and the often imitated, but never duplicated Frostbite Blue. These 12 hues are a great addition to your Eternal Ink palette.
